Response to urgent drinking water pollution and shortage issue in Dala(a poor district in Yangon), this project aims to integrate water filtration and education by terraced wetland design. Freshwater wetland and salty water wetland were detailed designed in a pilot area.
Freshwater wetland filtration system consists of several interrelated ponds and functional areas: sedimentation pond, water aeration pond, shallow water treatment channel, shallow water treatment channel, central reservoir and phytoremediation edge. Through applying to the existing urban area of Dala, self sufficient water supply system can be formed in the short term that improve quality and capacity of portable water. In the long term, sustainable water education industry can be established in Dala through connecting planned research center and universities.
